Ferrari 275 GTB/C Speciale

Cars

Just look at this thing

It is one of only three 1964 Ferrari 275 GTB/C Speciale. And it is becoming available for auction at RM’s monterey show this August. All rumours point to this raising eight figures.

Chassis 06701 is the headline attraction for RM Auctions’ flagship Monterey sale during the world-famous Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance week. According to RM it will command the attention of the world’s most discerning collectors. And who can blame them?

But it’s not only supremely rare – it has to be one of the most beautiful cars ever, like, ever.

RM’s honchos reckon it is one of the most important Ferraris in the world, the first of only three Berlinetta Competizione cars built by Ferrari for FIA homologation and factory development to compete at the highest levels in endurance racing. Each vehicle was uniquely hand-built, and all three were fitted with super-lightweight aluminum bodywork and powered by a type 213/Comp dry-sump engine topped with six Weber carburetors, as first seen in the 250 LM. While one of its sibling cars, chassis 06885, illustrated the model’s dominance on the track, winning its class at Le Mans, 06701 was amazingly used as a road car from new.

Six twin webers, a joy to behold

It’s obviously an evolution of the GTO concept and for us, with a touch of something altogether more dashing than the GTO.

It’s all in the Louvres, baby.
