Fiat 131 Racing
We’ve mentioned our penchant for the three-box format many a time.
But no car has stuck to its purity than Fiat’s 131 series.
In 1978, a 2-door sporting version known as Racing, or Mirafiori Sport in the UK, was launched. It came with a 115 PS twin-cam engine, different headlights and grille, a few choice spoilers and extended wheel arches. The drivetrain was augmented by a short-throw 5-speed gearbox.
My mate’s older brother had one – and this meant that we got a ride every now and then.
Something about this car resonates more strongly than any other car from the era.
