Bentley T1 1968 Coupe Speciale

There’s a Bentley T1 for sale this month at The Silverstone Auctions.

This particular 1970 Saloon has some serious heritage, once owned by royalty it is now being sold by the man who wrote the classic bond theme, Goldfinger.

But for our money it’s the T1 1968 Coupe Speciale that any discerning ‘00 agent would choose to transport his latest society beauty to their summer sojourn on the Cote d’Azur in maximum comfort and style.

Its distinctive sportive lines were penned by Paolo Martin, chief of design at Pininfarina, and while they marked a major departure from the standard four door T1 the Speciale gave away none of the interior comforts of its big brother.

Looking at these shots gives credence to the rumour that this beautiful machine is what prompted Rolls Royce to approach Pininfarina and finally produce their classic 1975 Camargue.

It doubtless showed the Royce execs what can be achieved by marrying English class with Italian style
