There's something special about getting air on a motorised vehicle.
You hang out at the edge of control. You flirt with the forces of physics. You indulge the primitive human impulse to fly. That's why the action sequences of world rally, the frozen moments of the TT, and of course freestyle motor crossers are all focused on hang time.
It might be a mechanical case of velocity crossed with terrain that has all day dreaming drivers aping Icarus, but it’s a powerful impulse. Even on our school run in the morning, two particular hump back grades of tarmac make the drudge doable, especially in the dry, dusty height of summer.
Go get some.
