Puch Maxi Brobber…

Bikes

The cult of the Puch is now firmly established all over the planet.

But John Isaac, Cornwall based style documentarian, Hot Rod aficionado and general fleet-footed downstreamer – was onto the the joys of the moped early. John was kind enough to send some snaps of his joyous little ride.

It’s a 1979 Maxi ‘N’ – and comes fresh with a 70cc bore kit and a special 17mm carb and a custom Tecno exhaust. That aesthetic niceness comes via those café bars and the Puch alloys (want to call them Mag wheels for some reason). That’s a Monza seat, those are Conti-Go tyres and there’s bobber-style fenders and tail lights. And yes; BMX stunt footpegs make this a real brattish café-bobber-ped mashup and we love it.

The main standout is, though, that lovely meaty torsion bar that grips the frame from seatpost to headset, ensuring a certain stiffness in the hard cornering for which these little devils are not usually known.

Bravo John.
