Fiat VSS Concept
The Fiat VSS was based on the Ritmo – a collaboration between Fiat, the I.D.E.A. Institute. It was a groundbreaking design – mainly for its vision of using a monocoque frame and the inclusion of various subsystems – panels with no load-bearing capacity but when applied produced a structural integrity that was light, safe, strong, and cheap to release.
It’s one of those cars; like Guigiaro’s Panda – that is unassuming as it is vital in the evolution of car manufacturing and design. And there’s something about that Fiat brand that resounds with a history of innovation.
