Porsche by Design: Seducing Speed

Cars

The talismanic design of the Porsche has received, perhaps, more than its fair share of artistic accolades.

Whether or not it’s a case of stating the obvious, the legend is about to be furrowed deeper when the North Carolina Museum of Art open an exhibition that focusses on the car and brings to the forefront the artistic impulse encoded in the car design.

The exhibition, which opens next week, explores the history and development of the Porsche lineage from the 1930s to the present day and features more than 20 cars including Porsches’ owned by Ralph Lauren, Steve McQueen, and Janis Joplin, as well as the one-of-a-kind Panamericana concept car on loan from the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart (see above).

If you happen to be in North Carolina, it should be an interesting contextualisation for the American public.

Anyway: it’s another nice wee film.
