Santa Pod ’67
We’ve always had a soft spot for Santa Pod Raceway.
So when we stumbled across these shots on The Selvedge Yard recently, we had to give you the heads up.
RAF Podington had been disused since the 1950s – but it was recommissioned to run the classic quarter mile in 1967. The following photographs are from the very first bike meet, a few of which were published at that time in Drag Racing & Hot Rod magazine.
There’s a great feel to these old pics, and amazing few machines to quiz over.
What we love about Santa Pod and Draggin’ in general is that it remains roots and culture motorsport. These pics let you know that though a lot has changed at the ‘Pod – much has stayed the same.
