"The latest Land Rover Defender is just the latest in a long line that can trace a direct descent from the original Series 1 designed by Maurice & Spencer Wilks way back in 1947. Although some things have changed a lot over "
We’ve said it before, but there’s a lovely simplicity to pure utes. And the first few iterations of the Land Rover are about as Ute as a Ute can be.
The earlier Landies remind us of that immediate post-war time of fragmentation and change – when Britain was till rationed, America was booming and clad in chrome, and the colonies, where these tools of Empire trundled around, where bracing themselves for the tribulations of independence.
If there was ever a machine that whispered of core British values it was this humble hunk of a vehicle. And if you look at the cutaway, you can see the simplicity that sees so many of these senior automotive citizens out on the lanes and byways of Brtain.
Land Rover: we salute you.
